Alpiq’s first wind park in Bulgaria is located near the town of Kazanlak, 200 kilometres to the east of the capital city Sofia. With its 29 wind turbines that provide an overall capacity of 73 megawatts, it produces 210 GWh of electricity per year.

Vetrocom wind park is in operation – extension to come

Vetrocom Windpark

Alpiq has put the Vetrocom wind park into commercial operation. The 20 wind turbines in central Bulgaria are connected to the grid and are supplying green electricity. On 16 December 2010, the Alpiq Board of Directors agreed to an extension of the wind park.

In Bulgaria the work on the construction of the Vetrocom 50 MW wind farm is progressing rapidly. At the end of May on the heights near the town of Kazanlak at the eastern end of the Bulgarian Rose Valley, seven of the 20 turbines are already erected.
