Alpiq evaluating the divestment of its shareholdings in AVAG and AEK

Pile of documents

Lausanne – Alpiq is evaluating the divestment of its shareholdings in Alpiq Versorgungs AG (AVAG) and AEK Energie AG (AEK). Both companies are regional energy suppliers in the Swiss Midlands. Alpiq will use the proceeds from the sale to further reduce net debt. Alpiq is continuing to consistently implement the Group’s transformation.

Alpiq has two shareholdings in regional energy supply companies in the Swiss Midlands: AVAG supplies electricity to some 30,000 end customers in the Olten region; AEK provides electricity to around 40,000 end customers in the Solothurn area.

The company is continuing to consistently implement the Group's transformation. In this context, Alpiq is focusing on liquidity management and further net debt reduction in order to secure capital market viability. Alpiq is making an important contribution to implementing Switzerland's energy future, especially as a hydropower specialist and leading energy service provider. For this reason, the company continues to argue in favour of Swiss hydropower, is expanding the market presence of energy services geographically, and will continue to make targeted investments in growth areas.
